GAMERS UNITE: Some announcements <3

Sun Jun 14, 2009, 5:52 PM
Okay, I need help with Spore again. But that's not the only news that I have, I promise!
Spore has been working just fine up to the Space stage. Now, my computer reboots at random intervals of what feel like 20-30 minutes with a message stating "The system has recovered from a serious error". I asked a friend of mine and he said that I need a driver update, my computer is too old for the game. I know my video card is old and just barely meets the requirements for Spore, that could be the problem.
Any other reasons? I'm pretty sure it's just the game acting up with my old computer. It's a Dell Inspiron laptop, 3 or 4 years old.

HERE'S MY GOOD NEWS
Assassin's Creed 2 comes out this year, like I hoped.
I'm very excited. This game takes place in one of my favorite world-locations.
For all you girls that play this game, there's good news. The new protagonist Enizo is just as handsome as Altair. I wonder if there will be more Animus conspiracy, or is there a new story behind this? Mmmm, whatever it is I look forward to this delicious new game.

A teaser trailer so that I may visually demonstrate how awesome it looks.

Did you check if your computer [and it;s graphics card] meet the requirements of Spore? If yes, then give yer PC a cleanout. Defrag, registry cleanout, maybe a virus scan, etc. It may help. I know windows too well XD

Ohman, i borrowed mass effect, and i thought my graphics card was out of date, so i updated the driver and it still didn't work right,
so... i bought a brand new card.
and it still didnt work. turns out its conflicting with the Driver.
have you tried changing the power settings of the laptop so it doesnt save power, Sometimes you find the laptop can be hindered by power restrictions.
But i'm not too sure apart from that...
and inorite i totally want to get that game man xwx

I hear Mass Effect 2 is awesome, hehe. Well, my laptop IS on Powersave mode, because the battery is so old, it doesn't hold energy very well anymore, so I try to make it last as long as possible when unplugged.
I should try getting a new card anyhow, but like ask a Best Buy employee about compatibility with my old hardware.
Just as a heads-up, how much on average would a new video card cost?

It said that my video card is slightly out of date, but still works with Spore. Or something like that. Like, I can play everything fine. Except the textures of things are pretty much completely missing; but I didn't expect it to be super-smooth and great, haha... even though it was pretty pricey... that and the graphics on the back and front of the game look somewhat crisper and nicer. Only up until the space stage on any game does it ever seem to be trouble-some.
i can definitely defrag in a short amount of time, i recently uninstalled and deleted anything i didn't use. Since I installed the Windows system myself, it's really bare-minimums.
I have no virus scan, since I have no internet. I would gladly get a good program for it, like Norton or something, but they're so damned expensive! Like... 80 bucks... ;_;

well, youd get a chipset if its a laptop,
i believe.
and you'd have to install it via a company or tech expert because the chipset is an integral part of the mother board

but if you're feeling abit techy

av at ye ;p
:iconpsychotropicfox:
I don't trust myself to do that on my own >w<
Eeeesh, the hardware itself shouldn't be too expensive but having somebody do it would probably be a real gash in my budget.
